Award Ceremony of the 1st Annual Prize for the Promotion of Peace in Mali
On Thursday, October 9, 2025, the Alioune Blondin Bèye Peacekeeping School (EMP-ABB) hosted the official award ceremony of the 1st Annual Prize for the Promotion of Peace in Mali, organized as part of the National Reconciliation Week.
Held under the high patronage of the Minister of Reconciliation, Peace and National Cohesion, Army Corps General Ismaël WAGUÉ, this ceremony marks a symbolic milestone in consolidating the values of peace, dialogue and cohesion in Mali.
Established during the 4th edition of the National Reconciliation Week (SENARE 2025), this prize aims to honor individuals, organizations or institutions that have made an exemplary contribution to promoting peace and living together.
The trophy, a work of art in gilt bronze on an ebony base, symbolizes light, dignity and Mali's cultural roots. The winner also receives a symbolic check and, above all, the recognition of the Nation.
Prime Minister Ousmane Issoufi MAÏGA, the first recipient of the prize, expressed his deep gratitude to the Transition authorities for this historic distinction. He praised the national initiative to draft the Charter for Peace and Reconciliation, led by the ministry in charge of Reconciliation.
In his address, Minister Ismaël WAGUÉ paid a strong tribute to the Prime Minister for his decisive role in the Inter-Malian Dialogue and the drafting of the said Charter. He also commended all the stakeholders working daily to promote peace, unity and social cohesion.
The Annual Prize for the Promotion of Peace is now established as a national tradition, a symbol of unity and hope, a reminder that peace is never taken for granted but remains a collective endeavor to be built every day.
For peace, no sacrifice is too great.
